Castle of the Duchess

A fortress built in the eighteenth century. It occupies the site of an ancient Roman villa. Part of the material used for its construction belonged to that villa. It dates from the time of Carlos III. It was built to defend the coast against pirates.

At the present time, it houses the Archaeological Museum of Manilva. Perfect place to take a tour of the history of this municipality. The objects on display in this museum come from the Roman archaeological site around the Castillo de la Duquesa. Objects dated between the end of the first century and the fifth century AD.

Tower of Chullera

It is one of the numerous watchtowers that we find along the coast of Andalusia. It is located in a beautiful area of coves, bordering the province of Cadiz.
